New Smart Technology Co., Ltd., an AI vision application company under the Taiya Semiconductor Group (TSE: 2340), held a philanthropic event on January 12 to give back to society. The company donated over NT$1 million to various educational institutions and charitable organizations in New Taipei City. The funds will be used for facility improvements and to support tuition and related expenses for underprivileged students—demonstrating New Smart Technology’s strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and human-centered values.

Founded in 2015, New Smart Technology is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. During a recent charitable donation event, Mr. Wen-Chi Shih, the company’s founder and Chairman, remarked:
“We believe technology can change the world, and compassion can make it warmer.”
Having started his career in a Japanese corporation, Mr. Shih has long been influenced by the human-centered values of Japanese corporate culture. Following the strategic investment of Taiya Semiconductor—now the company’s largest institutional shareholder—New Smart has continued to embrace the philosophy of corporate sustainability championed by Mr. Eiji Ogawa, Chairman of Japan’s Nichia Corporation. This spirit is also shared by Mr. Zhen-Chia Tai, Chairman of the Taiya Medical Foundation, and Mr. Kuo-Kuang Lee, Chairman of Taiya Semiconductor.
At New Smart Technology, corporate social responsibility and sustainable development have become deeply embedded in the company’s DNA. Mr. Shih emphasized,

During this charitable initiative, New Smart Technology learned of several educational institutions and social welfare groups in urgent need of support. Chairman Wen-Chi Shih promptly instructed relevant departments to reach out and assess their specific needs. Funding was swiftly allocated to ensure timely assistance.
Beneficiaries include:
the Food Bank established by Yixue Junior High School under the commission of the New Taipei City Education Bureau,
the Catholic Welfare Association supporting scholarships for underprivileged students across 15 elementary schools in New Taipei City, and
after-school tutoring programs for disadvantaged students at Anxi Junior High School and Zhanghe Junior High School.
By translating its commitment to corporate social responsibility into meaningful action, New Smart Technology continues to serve as a true practitioner of social responsibility, giving back to the communities that need it most.
